The virtual future forming on the horizon
The decade ahead will bring a seaping change in our lifestyle. Convergence & Interfacing of devices (such as telephone, TV, computers, LCD projector, Video, etc), Speech interface (as against keyboard & mouse), high-speed networking & supercomputing in miniature devices will revolutionize the way we will, conduct our business & live our day to day life. Impact of Computing devices ( smart and intelligent) and internet connectivity has let businesses embrace Information Technology in a friendly and big way. Data Retrieval and analysis, Net meetings, Video conferences, Tracking of objects are some of the common technologies used by businesses worldwide.

The future of Digital Technology is going from large devices in size to smaller yet powerful devices. The smartphone is one such device. Gone are the days when we looked at a handset as a mere calling device. Now calling a friend is just a basic function. Smartphones are doing almost 90% jobs of a Laptop computer and by 2026 we all will see an LCD projector getting embedded in a smartphone and all this at an affordable price. The mobile phone has become an integral part of our life. Using a phone was a luxury 20 years back. Today it’s a necessity. When a person leaves home, he is reminded of taking his wallet and phone. Many have started using multiple phones as well. For some, thinking of cellphones brings up images of teenagers constantly texting or adults sharing private phone conversations in inappropriate places, such as riding the train to work. But mobile phones offer benefits that extend beyond basic communication. People often structure their professional and personal daily lives around the use of a cellphone. Mobile phones make it easy to keep in touch with family and friends, whether you’re killing time during a long commute or quickly reminding your wife to buy milk at the grocery store. If you don’t have time for a conversation, send a quick text message. This allows you to stay connected even during business meetings or in public places where a voice conversation would be inappropriate, People use mobile phones in emergency situations to call the police, a tow truck, or to let the family know where they are. Cellphones offer a safety net by allowing you to call for directions if you’re lost, or to keep a friend on the phone while you walk through a dark parking garage. More recent technology advances include onboard GPS locators, making it easier for emergency services to find you if you require rescuing, such as after a car accident. This feature is also handy for parents of teens who want to track their movements. Mobile phones allow you to telecommute or travel to work without losing touch with employees and customers. Between calls, texts, emails, mobile document software, and photo messaging, most office jobs can be completed using only a smartphone. Now, most people look at mobile as a companion (like a pet dog).
In short Digital Technology of Today is slowly but surely bringing Different ways and means to improvise our lifestyle (professional as well as Personal). Devices are becoming smaller , cheaper and feature packed with strength. This is opening many vistas for Innovation to help the mankind. IT for Value Addition is now the new success mantra. IT is now becoming Essential for us and not a fashion statement or only for business anymore. For some, the Internet and social media have become an integral part of our day to day life. One can’t imagine now life without Internet.. Roti Kapda Makan Mobile ,Bijli and Bandwidth is new slogan for Survival today. In countries like Norway Internet access is considered a human right .Impact of IT is also taking place on the way we gather information , knowledge and keep track of things.
Today, there are about 130 crore cell phone users with the figure increasing by 50 to 60 lacs per month. At the same time, reduction in the prices of computers is also going to bring a cognizable increase in their usage. It wouldn’t be wrong to state that these communication gadgets are creating a new ‘E’ life style. Information on any subject, services and facilities is readily available anywhere in the world. This has resulted in a substantial increase in online shopping and online banking, which today is a very common thing.
Wearable computersalso known as body-borne computers is the next wave. These are miniature electronic devices that are worn by the bearer under, with or on top of clothing. One of the main features of a wearable computer is consistency. There is a constantinteraction between the computer and user, i.e. there is no need to turn the device on or off. Another feature is the ability to multi-task. It is not necessary to stop what you are doing to use the device; it is augmented into all other actions. These devices can be incorporated by the user to act like a prosthetic. It can therefore be an extension of the user’s mind and/or body./p>
Not only on personal level, but also on industrial, social and public level, the different versions of computers are growing to bring revolution with their long-lasting effects. This will lead to a discard in a number of traditional concepts, giving a chance to new systems to prove their mettle. This will be more evident in governmental and administrative fields as “Inline“ will soon transform into “Online“ when it comes to a number of tasks. Of course, this will take a little time but will definitely happen.
All this means Digital Age (ICE Age – Information Communication Entertainment) has really arrived.

You can see dreams you have worked hard for the years getting crashed like a quake in front of you especially, being the only wage earner of the family at the age of 44!
A vivid industrialist, a trendsetter international businessman, and entrepreneur got diagnosed with stage T4aNOMO, IV. A vocal cords cancer in September 1997 & lost my natural speaking ability for a lifetime. Underwent nearly 9 hours long wide-field massive surgery followed by 30 rounds of radiotherapy.
As the first step, I bravely accepted the diagnosis and the result – a resounding victory over advanced-stage cancer.
I began trying to return Life 2.0 to normalcy by using pen and paper in place of my natural voice to communicate as a dependent vocal cord cancer survivor which was totally against my WILL.
In December 1997, I started practicing speaking with a handheld electro-larynx as the services of a speech and language therapist were not available, and I had to learn on my own to locate a sweet spot under my chin from where audible sound could be generated.
While speaking in public with my differently enabled voice, I encountered total rejection in the first place, people were running away from me because they feared the weird sound.
It was a completely catastrophic condition, yes, you are reading Right!
It was a thought-provoking and challenging time for me, individually, socially, financially, for my family too.
Moreover, I decided NOT TO QUIT under any circumstances, especially the challenge of rejection of my new voice.
As export marketing was my key job function, I continued speaking with my newly developed voice with full courage and confidence and without any fear, continued my international business same as before traveling alone, meeting customers, and speaking with them over the phone.

The best advantage of my differently enabled voice is that the moment I start speaking over the phone, I am not required to announce my name – people recognize my voice immediately & another 10 years passed.
Needless to say, there was full-time, unparalleled support from my wife, Nilam, sons, Maulik, and Ankit.
Caregivers are the backbone, and without them, the journey is incomplete.
Being a die-hard marketeer & with a troubleshooter mindset, in 2011, indulged in Innovating my Life into “Eureka moments by creating Exceptional opportunities & first step was to demonstrate my weakness, the loss of natural speaking disability because of advanced-stage cancer & the daily paranoid difficulties, I experienced, as the first dependable tool for the public.
“Seeing me speaking with my distinct voice”, gave the most needed, “HOPE” to 40000+ patients, caregivers, students, working professionals & super specialists doctors by emphasizing quality of life after cancer, demonstrated Courage & Freedom From FEAR through numerous & extensive professional live presentations, interviews with slides worldwide.
Invited to address a huge audience in an auditorium, medical professionals, super specialists, change-makers & received a prestigious award at the hands of the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Published my biography, “SHAHENSHAH”, in June 2020 which was the first as a vocal cords cancer survivor.
My journey was featured as chapter 1 of the coffee table book 10/10, with the chapter title ‘I Am Here to Stay” also in the book, “Tame Ekla Nathi”(You are not alone), in numerous newspapers, newsletters, books globally & 3 books are under publishing as a co-author including one in the UK.
It’s my relentless surge to touch the lives and hearts of millions through my speaking events at:
# My contributions are appreciated by UICC, Geneva having a presence in 170 countries for cancer control & many other awards, accolades, recognitions such as Victor & TIMA, etc. & accolades to date.
# Invited to give kick start presentation during the annual conference in the USA for 2500 global attendees.
# Consecutively sponsored twice to the UK to address annual conferences. Delivered talk at London Cancer Care, Guys Thomas Cancer Care, Mount Vernon, UCL, Olympic village.
# First time in the world, as a vocal cords cancer survivor, conceptualized, anchored, streamed 20 episodes of e-health series with 35000+ views & more are being scheduled.
#Prof., Dr. Martin Birchall, Briton of the year 2008 from UCL, recommended my name for the Stovall Award in the USA & Atos Medical, Sweden having a presence in 70 countries, featured my journey.
I survived my last staged cancer diagnosis. Thanks to my ‘will to win’ approach coupled with what I have learned so much for 25 years from the university of experience and living with, especially acceptance, courage, confidence, and troubleshooting & to live in the moment
I am grateful to God for giving me a bonus Life 2.0. I spend every moment of life without any regret and without seeking sympathy. I express deep gratitude to one and all who were, are and will be part of my cancer-winning journey.

Journey of leadership: from the prehistoric era to the new modern age world
How to Battle Workplace Burnout For Those Working Remotely
Just this week I saw a screenshot of a participant in a leadership training program (not mine, haha) who was not only lying in bed during the program but fast asleep with his camera on. So, one of two things must be happening, I thought. Either this guy really didn’t care about his economic community, or he’s so burnt out digitally, that he’s entirely detached from reality. He’s a “Top Talent” in his organization, so I chose to believe the latter rather than the former. Perhaps you, like Mr. Snoozey-Pants, have become so digitally burnt out and jaded that you too are in danger of completely losing the plot, and showing up to a meeting wearing just a towel, or worse.
- Routine: Humans love routine. Too much routine is boring, but too little is what leads us to become mentally overwhelmed. So even if your commute now consists of a meander from the bedroom to the dining table, you need to be going to sleep and getting up at regular times, eating at regular times, checking email and making calls at regular times, and taking breaks at regular times. Sticking to a routine will keep your brain and body happy in a stable pattern, and this will reduce your cognitive load, and improve your general state of mind.
- Daily check-in: Humans need connection. That goes for you, and for your team. So make a point of checking in with your boss, teammates, and other key stakeholders each day. It doesn’t need to be a long talk, but a short chat will help to keep you and them all feeling more humanly connected. And remember, the text is the lowest form of communication, so try using your phone as a phone instead and add some tone and cadence to your words. You and your team will appreciate a bit of voice-to-voice contact.
- Breathe: Humans forget to breathe too often. You are living in the most incredible time in human history, and most of what you face in your life is manageable, and very little of it is a real threat to you or your wellbeing. I mean, how serious is it that you have a deadline to meet? Is anyone going to die? Not likely. I’m not saying you should miss your deadline, but I am saying that there’s a way to work quickly without all of the adrenaline and cortisol that your brain produces when you have a stress response. Remind yourself that whatever you are facing now is not a real threat, it likely won’t kill you no matter what happens, and ask that stressed out piece of your brain to take a step back, and breathe. Taking 5 deep breaths can significantly reduce stress hormone production and help to clear your thoughts.
- Organize your Tasks: Many people use a notepad for this. I use Trello. Putting tasks on to-do lists serves 2 purposes. First, it reduces cognitive load by removing information from your pre-frontal cortex. Your brain knows you’ve recorded the information elsewhere, so it allows itself to let go of it for now. Second, when you check items off of your to-do list, your brain gives you a hit of dopamine, the most pleasurable chemical on the planet. One of the best mental highs you can get comes from a good steady pace of checking things off of your task list.
- Curate your environment: Humans are biopsychosocial creatures. That means that our bodies, minds, and environments are all connected in our experience of the world. As tempting as it is to run your staff meeting from bed in your PJ’s with last night’s Cheetos bag still lying beside you and your camera off, make an effort to put your body into an environment conducive to your work. Put on nice clothes. Brush your hair. And sit down in an space that helps your brain to recognise that it’s time to focus on your economic community for a while. Having a specific chair in your house that you only use for work is a great start to bringing your mind, body, and environment into sync.
Remote working has become a common practice, and it looks like for many companies, it’s here to stay. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet (Google) says that a good balance would be 3 days in the office and 2 working from home. I agree with him, but we haven’t taken the time to adapt slowly to all of this remote working, and humans are fundamentally both social creatures and resistant to change. This is leading many of us to experience some kind of digital burnout or another. We’re simultaneously increasingly isolated, chocking on the volume of Zoom meetings, and gasping for clearer communication on collaborative projects. In short, we haven’t adapted to all of this change yet, but making small adjustments to your daily behaviour can make a massive difference in your mental wellbeing.
