Cracking the paradigm about Tobacco Smoking: new perspective allows new solution

Currently, there are several billion smokers and secondhand smoke-exposed persons on earth. China lights up at a rate of 50,000 cigarettes each second with approximate 300 million tobacco smokers and 700 million secondhand smoke affected persons. There are approximately 120 million smokers in India and nearly half of the doctor’s smoke in India. This product, a ‘smoker’s supplement replacement product’, derives from US Patent #8,889,194, Issued Nov 18, 2014. When you look at the tobacco smoking problem from a different perspective it allows for a new solution, not previously recognized before.

Background:

About 21 years ago, I learned that about half of the medicines used in the world have some kind of drug-induced nutrient depletion. I discuss this and the data (proof-of-concept) in my PowerPoint presentation (available upon request).  Cigarettes are also included amongst drugs, as they are regulated worldwide. I discovered what antioxidant and micronutrient depletions occur from tobacco smoking and secondhand smoke exposure. I then asked the question, ” What does replenishment of these depleted substances do?” The bottom line, replenishment decreases morbidity and mortality for a number of depleted substances.

In a nutshell:

1)    When people smoke or when they are exposed to secondhand smoke, they unwittingly become depleted in antioxidants (like Vitamin C, etc.) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals).

2)    The origins of the diseases associated with tobacco smoking and secondhand smoke are these antioxidant and micro-nutrient depletions.

3)    Replenishment of these substances decreases morbidity and mortality (and improves numerous biomarkers) in some of these substances. It gives people a fighting chance of staying well.

4)    Finally, and importantly, people who quit smoking sometimes quit multiple times before stopping for good. This product improves relapse rates. This means they have to continue to purchase the product.

The smoker’s supplement replacement product replenishes these lost antioxidants and micronutrients from tobacco smoke exposure and decreases morbidity and mortality. The product can be used for tobacco smokers, secondhand smoke-exposed persons, and pregnant smokers. As I have said, this gives people a fighting chance of staying well. The only claim I make is the replacement of antioxidants and micronutrients. This qualifies the product as a dietary supplement.

The idea of a smoker’s supplement replacement product is new and if you speak with smokers, they crave something new. There has not been anything significantly new for tobacco smoking in over two decades! It just takes someone with a little bit of vision to turn this into a worldwide product. By vision, I mean to see in an inspired way.  First to market with creative advertising and creating a brand name will win the market. Imitators cannot compete.

Finally, the smokers supplement replacement product is a proactive solution by replenishing these nutrient and antioxidant losses needed to run the biochemical pathways. The nicotine patches and gums are reactive solutions and do not address the underlying biochemical depletions that occur from tobacco smoking.

How Dancercise can uplift your mood

Hello! I am Tripura Kashyap, a pioneer of Movement and Dance Therapy in India. I work with professionals from different fields – Education, Arts, Healthcare, Spirituality, Ecology, Social work, Psychology, etc. A mantra that I constantly repeat ad nauseum in every workshop, course, or session is “Movement is our universal mother-tongue, it acts as a natural anti-depressant and leads to the much-needed digital detox for all”

Remember that dance is a form of self-expression and consists of all the myriad movements your body produces. A daily dose of dance (to your favorite piece of music) puts you in a positive state of being each day. You feel energized, mobilized and positive about life, relationships, and work. There is a scientific reason for this – As you dance spontaneously and move to music, endorphins (brain chemicals) get released and promote euphoria and make you feel high on life (for no reason at all) – a sense of physical, emotional, and mental well-being envelopes you and readies you for the day.

The method of spontaneous dancing is very simple! Once the music comes on, move each part of your body the way you want, one by one for a few seconds; The head, shoulders, chest, spine, arms, hips, knees, and ankles. End this experience by moving the whole body as a unit with all the body parts moving together to the rhythm and melody of the music. As sweat breaks out, your heartbeat gets stronger, your muscle tone gets enhanced, your joints loosen up, your mood alters and your body and mind feel alive and invigorated – imagine feeling these body-based enhancements on a daily basis and the manner in which the quality of your life would change.

This activity is the first stage in becoming comfortable with your body language – You must be familiar with the fact that 75 % of all your communication with others happens through this amazing body language! Your body can speak, express, think, memorize and communicate your stories and emotions through movement. You need this movement experience as much as you need food, water, air, and clothes because movement is primal to human nature – we were all born with movement (that is the first thing we did in our mother’s womb) and unfortunately, most people have forgotten to move now (thanks to the recent pandemic and the comfort of our smartphones – human movement language has shrunk to the tips of our fingers!).

Many people find many reasons to get stuck to their chairs and beds and have further immobilized themselves leading to overweight bodies, de-energized souls, and loss of spirit. Movement and dance will unlock these bodies and unchain the spirit so one feels more human and alive and most importantly connect to oneself and develop resilience to face all challenges that life throws at us.

Another interesting phenomenon is that the body and mind are continuums of each other – significant changes that occur in the body affect the mind too! When you dance with your body, the joy, and openness your body feels also transmits to your mind. As you dance, your mind begins to feel hopeful, positive and feels nourished and nurtured as much as the body does – as the mind relaxes you are able to think better, become more creative, and break out of the limitations that have boxed you from exploring your complete potential.

Another fact is that in our contemporary lives, we are all living in a ‘parallel virtual-digital universe’ through our mobile phones and laptops. Dance helps us escape from this digital trap and experience our real embodied lives – As we move and dance to music in solos, or with a partner or in small groups we feel the ‘here and now, we feel a deep self-awareness and experience interpersonal bonding with others too.  This could become a powerful experience of using dance as ‘digital detox’ which we all sorely need to carry on with our meaningful lives! We need to get out of our straitjacket-like chairs and dance with ourselves, our families, and co-workers to feel our mood shifting towards a positive zone, laugh at ourselves and with each other.

How can you bring this movement practice into your life as part of your daily routine? Push yourselves for 21 days to move half an hour a day to any kind of music of your choice (vocal or instrumental), using any kind of movement that arises in your body every morning. After these 21 days, your body will demand dance and movement each day from you and you will gradually make permanent the positive effects of this amazing art form on your body, mind, and soul. So do Move, do Express, and do Transform your lives through dance and movement!

Conquering Cancer by Changing your Lifestyle

During my college years in the late 1970s, we had sessions at the Tata Memorial Hospital, the only big cancer hospital in India at the time. At that time cancer was relatively uncommon and as medical students, this was never a focus. But all this has changed. Today cancer has become commonplace. While the number of cancer patients continues to rise every year, the age at which people develop cancers is falling. According to the most accurate forecast to date from Cancer Research UK, and published in the British Journal of Cancer, one in two people will develop cancer at some point in their lives.

Nothing is more frightening than the word ‘cancer’, just because of the pain and suffering involved. Yet most of us prefer not to think about it before it’s too late. This is primarily because we always like to believe that it is something that happens to someone else, not to us. We prefer to live in a state of denial.

Even doctors fear cancer. That’s why they bring out their strongest arsenal against this disease. Radiation and chemotherapy are double-edged swords. Radiation means burning, and everyone knows that radiation or X-rays cause cancer. Chemotherapy is poison. It kills every fast-growing cell and also harms other cells, and so lowers the resistance of the body. Having said this both chemotherapy and radiation can give us time by killing fast-growing cancer cells.

Instead of fearing or living in denial, if we were to bring our awareness to the reasons cancer rates have increased, and try to make sure to get rid of these causes of cancers, we could prevent and even reverse this trend. Though chemotherapy and radiation may bring about remission, continuing the same lifestyle that led to cancer in the first place is likely to bring on a relapse. On the other hand, the diagnosis of cancer can force us to rethink our life and change our path for the better. We must convert adversity into an opportunity to heal at all levels. I know several people who are grateful to their disease for showing them a better path.

Cut Cancer Out.
Cancer cells, present in everyone’s body, are kept in check by healthy cells. But if conditions are unsuitable for the healthy cells – such as less oxygen supply or an acidic environment – they take over and multiply out of control.

It’s a myth that you can cut cancer out with surgery. You can only cut out the tumour, which is the result of cancer. Should the conditions for the proliferation of cancer cells continue to exist, a recurrence can occur. Therefore, everyone, whether they have cancer or not, should avoid the factors that cause cancer, some of which are as follows –

1) Excess Proteins – Surprised? Yes, the consumption of more dietary protein than ever before in the history of humanity has resulted in the cancer epidemic. Proteins are foods that our body uses for growth and repair. Excess proteins are acid-yielding in our body – producing the perfect environment for cancer cells to grow. All those eggs and protein supplements that gym trainers advise can work against you. Don’t forget that protein deficiency is very rare. Horses and elephants get enough for their strong bodies only from whole plants!

2) Animal Proteins – Not only are they acid yielding, but, upon cooking animal muscles are converted into heterocyclic amines that are carcinogenic. One good reason to switch to a plant-based diet!

3) Pesticides – Pesticides, used in farming bioaccumulate in the bodies of animals that eat the produce. Naturally, all animal products have way more pesticides than plants ever could. Pesticides consumed over time form residues in our bodies that are highly carcinogenic. Naturally organic plant-based foods are the safest alternatives.

4) Personal care products – such as deodorants, shampoos, soaps, hair dyes, perfumes, lotions, cosmetics, and even toothpaste contain carcinogens. Sodium Laurel Sulphate, (SLS) a foaming agent commonly found in shampoos and toothpaste is a well-known carcinogen! What you put on your body can be absorbed through the skin in seconds! Try looking for natural alternatives for these.

5) Chemicals in the environment – Although we are not in control of everything in our larger environment, we do have control over our immediate environment. Air fresheners, detergents, phenyls, insecticides, detergents, fabric softeners are just some examples of how we make our environment toxic.

6) Packaged foods – These are typically filled with chemical ingredients for higher shelf life (read that label carefully!). Meats are treated to keep their colour and freshness with nitrites, which are also carcinogens.

7) Plastics – Plastics are carcinogens but they dominate every aspect of our lives. What can you do? Here are some ideas to minimize their effects – Avoid drinking bottled water. Avoid using microwaves or heating foods in plastic. Avoid having hot drinks in disposable plastic or thermocol cups. In fact, avoid plastics where ever possible.

7) Fish – The sea is full of plastic waste that is broken down into microns and ingested by fish. Therefore, fish, too, are full of plastic. But then so are the animals in our food chain, as they are fed fishmeal that is made from the by-catch (those fish that are caught in the net but that are not eaten by humans)! Organic plant-based foods are much safer.

8) Tap water – In most urban areas, tap water is chlorinated, and chlorine is a carcinogen! The answer – an RO filter to get rid of that chlorine. This water can then be further alkalinized by squeezing in some lime/lemon juice or making an infusion.

9) Acid-yielding substances – Our body is alkaline. Cancer cells thrive in acidic environments where normal cells cannot survive. An alkaline diet helps prevent cancer. Proteins break down into amino acids that are acid-yielding in our bodies. Therefore, a high (animal) protein diet, is highly acidic. Substances like tea, coffee, alcohol, vinegar, salt, sugar, and colas are also acidic. Fruits and vegetables are the most alkaline substances and should be eaten plentifully. Raw foods are always the best.

10) Lack of Fibre – Fibre helps clean the body making it essential for health. Only plants contain fiber. Animal products and even refined plant foods lack fiber.

11) Hormones – Breast, prostate, and ovarian cancers are hormone-dependent cancers. Hormones are found in dairy and animal products as well as in medicines, such as oral contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy, or steroids. Avoid animal products and other sources of hormones to avoid upsetting the hormonal balance of the body thereby preventing these common cancers.

12) EMF – Electromagnetic frequencies are suspected to cause cancer. Why not minimise the use of gadgets to the extent possible?

Emotional factors
Our emotions play a big role in our well-being.
Long-standing negative emotions, like resentment or stress, can also have an adverse effect on our health. Unfortunately, we are not taught how to deal with emotional issues.

We often live life according to social expectations and with no idea about our spiritual purpose. This brings dissatisfaction. Often the diagnosis of cancer, and the fact that life may be short-lived, helps us focus on what is really important.

Summary
Whether we have cancer or not, why not start living on the premise that everyday matters? Why not start eliminating the causes of cancers to the extent possible? Our body always works to heal. We just have to stop harming it. Let’s take cancer more seriously before it takes us! Many people have brought their cancers into remission just by making that lifestyle shift.

Relationship & Human Evolution

Relationships and human evolution both started at about the same time, dating back to prehistoric times of the cave dwellers. A typical cave-dwelling comprised of a prehistoric family unit. The man was at its centre as he was probably physically the biggest and strongest member of the family, where might was right. It was a family of hunters and foragers.

The man of the family laid out and enforced all the rules of the family. For instance, it was compulsory for everyone to defecate and urinate outside of the cave. Further one could only go to a designated place for the same. A place that was a safe place, within his view and reach, to protect them from marauding animals or other tribes. Life was relatively simple in those days. Obey or be punished.

As the evolution of our species progressed, it was found to be safer and more secure if families got together and began living together. Safety and security were found to be greater in numbers. ‘Togetherness’ seemed to find solutions which went beyond individualized limitations. Soon little communes or ‘villages’ developed. Now there was a need to elect or select someone as a ‘leader’. There was a need to establish common rules or laws with a leadership who would also aim to enforce the same. The practice of ‘p0litics’ began, and a new profession emerged, that of ‘lawyers’.

Soon the size of the communes grew as more and more people found value in living together. Life grew more complex, interpersonal differences and conflicts grew. Clearly a need was felt of learning to live and work together. Relationships grew more complex. The practice of Leadership began to evolve. There was a need to learn how to manage one’s relationships. Fight or flight did not always provide the best answer. Was there a better way?

Every human being is finite and therefore limited in knowledge, wisdom, strength, and so on. Yet we all seek to go beyond our limitations. To do this we must first accept and acknowledge our own limitations. At the same time, we each are in many ways ‘different’ from each other. We each enjoy differences in knowledge, differences in experience, in beliefs, etc… Therefore, there is a lot we can learn from each other. Perhaps we could even grow beyond our individualistic limitations if we chose to learn from each other.

For this we need to get rid of our fixed mindsets and adopt growth mindsets instead. Relationships provide us with a different point of view. They provide us with differences of all kinds. They challenge our limitedness and our ego. In this way they make us into more ‘universal’ beings. They enable us to see the whole picture. They help us to develop ‘growth mindsets’. They help us to challenge and grow out of our existing beliefs and conditionings. They help us to evolve. Hence, let us all learn to celebrate our differences instead of fighting them or running from them.
