Association of Women in Business (AWiB) is a volunteer-based organization that seeks to unleash the potential of women as leaders through supporting the personal and professional development of women in Ethiopia. Established in 2010 AWib is the product of two dynamic women, Nahu Senay Girma and Roman Kifle who noticed there was a gap to be filled for women’s networking in Ethiopia with special attention to women’s personal and professional development. AWiB strives to instill a ‘can do’ attitude amongst its members, and provides them with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to transform the ‘can do’ into ‘done’. AWiB seeks to actively enable potential and development through facilitating experience and information sharing between upcoming and established female leaders through their networking platform. AWiB organises monthly programs and annual events to encourage conversations and sharing of information for personal and professional development. AWiB provides a dynamic networking experience by holding meetings and events with prominent speakers, creating a culture of innovation and creativity for women in Ethiopia. AWiB offers women from diverse backgrounds and with diverse dreams to come together and explore each other’s paths—the challenges, the triumphs, the perseverance, the learning, and ultimately the growth each one experiences in the multitude of encounters that surround one’s personal and professional lives.
