Haresh Karamchandani

Haresh completed his Master’s in Commerce and started his entrepreneurial journey in 1999 by joining his family business. However, in a short span, he envisioned that the business’s growth opportunities were limited and did not match the scale he wanted the company to grow. So, he moved towards potato processing from their traditional business. Moreover, out of various potato-growing regions in India, he learned that North Gujarat (an area near his native, Mehsana) was the most suitable state in India for the cultivation of processing a variety of potatoes, looking at the favorable agro-climatic conditions.

Based on this knowledge, he set up the processing plant near Mehsana, strategically located in the center of the potato belt. He invested his time in studying global players in the same field to understand the nitty-gritty of his new business. He came across various challenging situations but overcame the same and soon set up an international standard plant in 2015 to manufacture products per global standards. The products manufactured quickly gained acceptance from the market; since then, there has been no looking back for him. His dream is to make India the World’s largest manufacturer of french fries and to make Hyfun, Asia’s largest exporter of French Fries by 2025 and eventually become the World’s largest manufacturer of French Fries.
